Ordered some food of skip the dishes - Fan Favourite box, biscuits were great. Chicken and fries were terrible and inedible tasted like burnt oil had a nasty bitterness in every bite. As a person who works in the culinary industry, skimping on oil change and selling hundreds of chicken and fried stuff together can cost you a lot. I’m assuming the oil was nasty and was not changed due to monetary problems or laziness of staff I’m not sure. But to pay 36$ for crap that can’t be eaten is really bad. I used to come here many times prior to this skipthedishes order. From now I’ll go elsewhere, Popeyes, churches, THG, so many good spots for fried chicken, only used to come here because it was around the corner.
Update Dec 2025 =Been here a couple of times lately... I really like this place, food is good, tasty, prepared properly.Staff seems fine for the work they do to handle the orders and food delivery to customers. Store itself is very clean. Lots of free parking right outside in parking lot. I see the owner working hard in the open kitchen preparing the meals, a hands on owner is always appreciated and respected by me. For me its all positive and nothing bad to report. I am disappointed to see so many negative reviews, and dont believe them. This place is a hidden jewel and easily my favorite MB location in Toronto. It is an almost brand new location, maybe 1 year old. Parking is a pleasure here, 2 disabled spots in front and easily 100 empty parking spots all around it. A huge clean patio to eat outside and because of its location, pretty well no stinky running cars to spoil your outdoor eating. Inside, simple, extra clean sitting areas, extra clean 2 washrooms. Order on app or at counter, the staff are very helpful, and always bring my food to my sitting area. Everytime I am there, I always see the owner cooking in the back and always looking out at staff, customers and dining area and ensuring happiness and satisfaction. Like a mom and pop place, I am happy to see an owner who takes pride in his location and service. He is so friendly and nice ! Food is of the highest quality, I always get the Big Mary sandwich and taters and give them a 5/5 rating. Luv, luv, luv their food and location. JM
The best fried chicken I ever had. The Owner is there all the time and their service and speed is the best i have seen in this industry. Came after sometime and oh my God, the owner has some resilence. The quality is the best i ever had in a fried chicken sandwich. I always eat popeyes and chruchs chicken in downtown as there is no MB in my area. The quality and service is so pathetic there. This owner at this Mary Browns location has always been there no matter what time you come. Rain, Snow or shine. He is there always with a smile. Hope the neighbourhood shows some support. There has to be line up here and i dont see it which makes me think why canadians are not supporting a home grown fried chicken brand. I wish people in leaside neighbourhood would wake up. I see the pubs around there busy as hell on the patio.
